All immunosuppressant medications will now be dispensed by the outpatient pharmacy (KFM pharmacy) at King’s. It will no longer be possible for immunosuppression to be prescribed on a green prescription for you to take to your local pharmacy.

(Patients who obtain their immunosuppression medication directly from their GP are not affected.)

  1. If you have a face-to-face appointment, you will need to collect the supply of your medications from the outpatient pharmacy before you leave. Waiting times at the outpatient pharmacy have improved recently but it can get busy and to save a wait please emailkch-tr.liverpharmacy@nhs.netthe liver pharmacy team to request your medications 3 days ahead of your appointment so that we can arrange for them to be ready for you to collect on the day of the appointment. (If you have chosen to do this you should get a text to let you know your medications are ready for collection. Do not join the queue when you get to the pharmacy, let the person on the door know that you already have a text to confirm your medication is ready) If you forget to email you can still get a supply on the day of your appointment by asking the clinician for a prescription and taking it to the onsite pharmacy.

If during the appointment you are told your dose should change, request a new prescription from the clinician and take that to the onsite pharmacy (do not collect the original one requested in advance from pharmacy to ensure it will not be wasted).

  2. If you receive a telephone call following your appointment that your medication should change, please request from the person who calls you whatever extra/different medication you need and this can then be sent to you.

If you have a telephone appointment, please ask your clinician for a prescription. They will write a prescription and the supply will be posted out to you from the outpatient pharmacy.

If you are running out of immunosuppressant medications between appointments, please emailkch-tr.liverpharmacy@nhs.netthe liver pharmacy team and they will be able to help you.

As with any new process, it takes a while for things to run totally smoothly.  If at any time you have concerns or are unclear about your medications, do seek advice from liver pharmacy by sending an email tokch-tr.liverpharmacy@nhs.net
